Prof. Dr. İlker Ertuğrul wurde 1979 in İzmit geboren. Gymnasialausbildung in Kocaeli abgeschlossen. 2004 Abschluss der Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität Hacettepe. 2010 Abschluss der Facharztausbildung an der Abteilung für Kinder- und Jugendmedizin der Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität Hacettepe und 2013 der Zusatzfacharztausbildung im Bereich Pädiatrische Kardiologie. 2008–2009 Oberassistenz an der İhsan-Doğramacı-Kinderklinik der Universität Hacettepe. 2017 Titel Assoz. Prof., 2026 Titel Prof. Im Rahmen der beruflichen Entwicklung sechsmonatige Tätigkeit am Leiden University Medical Center in den Niederlanden mit klinischer und akademischer Forschung zu Rhythmusstörungen bei Kindern und genetischen Arrhythmiesyndromen.

Derzeit als Mitglied des Lehrkörpers im Bereich Pädiatrische Kardiologie der Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität Hacettepe tätig.

Die Forschungen von Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul konzentrieren sich überwiegend auf pädiatrische Elektrophysiologie, erbliche Arrhythmiesyndrome, angeborene Herzerkrankungen und kardiale Gerätetherapien. Beteiligung an mehr als 90 im Web of Science indexierten internationalen Veröffentlichungen. Die Arbeiten der letzten Jahre umfassen Left-Bundle-Branch-Area-Pacing bei Kindern, Ablationen ventrikulärer Arrhythmien, das Wolff-Parkinson-White-Syndrom, den Fontan-Kreislauf, die psychosozialen Auswirkungen erblicher Arrhythmiesyndrome, die Arrhythmie-Risikobewertung mittels kardialer Magnetresonanztomografie sowie pädiatrische Herzschrittmacheranwendungen.

Mitwirkung am Peer-Review nationaler und internationaler wissenschaftlicher Zeitschriften sowie Fortsetzung der Forschung in pädiatrischer Elektrophysiologie und Kinderkardiologie.
