Şevkiye Selin Aytaç

Graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1997. Completed specialty training in pediatrics in 2003 and then subspecialty training in pediatric hematology in 2006, both at Hacettepe University. Clinical and laboratory work was carried out at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in the USA in 2007 and at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in the USA in 2008. Became a Specialist in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology in 2010. Became an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in 2011, and carried out compulsory state service at the Division of Pediatric Hematology, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, between 2010 and 2012. In 2016, selected as a “Hemophilia Academy Fellow” for the ‘Hemophilia Academy’ program supported by the leading organizations and societies in the field, EAHAD (European Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders), ISTH (International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis) and HTRS (Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society), and certified after successfully completing the program. In 2017, work was carried out within a clinical course at the London Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, a hemophilia treatment center in the United Kingdom, as part of a clinical course. The title of Professor was obtained in 2017. Awards received for scientific work include the Turkish Society of Hematology (THD) Young Investigator Award (2006 and 2019), the THD Poster Award (2005 and 2018), the THD-Bayer Schering Pharma Industry Award (2007), the THD Experimental Hematology Award (2013), the THD-TÜRKBA Award (2015), the THD Abstract Award (2018), poster awards from the Turkish Pediatric Hematology Society (TPHD) (2005 and 2021) and the American Society of Hematology (ASH) Achievement Award (2019). Member of the Turkish Society of Hematology and the Turkish Pediatric Hematology Society, board member of the Association for Treatment and Solidarity for Congenital Blood Diseases, and president of the Association for Aid, Treatment and Solidarity for Children with Leukemia. Areas of interest are bleeding disorders (inherited coagulation disorders, rare factor deficiencies, platelet function disorders), thrombosis, anemias, neutropenias, thrombocytopenias, leukemias and hematological cancers, and other blood diseases of childhood.
