Erdal Sağ

Born in Kütahya in 1986. Completed primary, middle, and high school education in Kütahya. Entered Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2004 ranking 2nd in Turkey in the university entrance exam (ÖSS), and graduated in 2010 as second in the class. Between 2011 and 2015, completed specialty training in the Department of Pediatrics of the same faculty. During this period, worked as a visiting researcher at University College London with a Scientific Research Grant from EULAR (European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology). Ranking 1st in Turkey in the 2016 Subspecialty Examination, began subspecialty training in the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, completing it in 2020. In 2018, completed the Pediatric Autoinflammatory Diseases Master's Program at the Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences.

With the “2018 FOREUM International Exchange Fellowship” grant, conducted research on childhood inflammatory arthritis at Aarhus University in Denmark. Through the continuation of the same grant, led the establishment of the Pediatric Rheumatology Unit at the Hacettepe University Translational Medicine Laboratories. Received the title of Associate Professor in 2021. Between 2021 and 2024, served as Clinical and Administrative Head of the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology at Ankara Training and Research Hospital.

Dr. Sağ was one of the 8-member team that founded the EMERGE Young Rheumatologists Union under the European Paediatric Rheumatology Society (PReS), and served as Chair of the EMERGE Education Committee between 2016 and 2021. Since 2021, Dr. Sağ has served as EMERGE Chair. Between 2022 and 2024, Dr. Sağ served as founding chair of the Turkey Young Pediatric Rheumatologists group. In addition, Dr. Sağ holds memberships in many national and international rheumatology societies, notably PReS (European Paediatric Rheumatology Society) Board Membership, EULAR PAED (Paediatric Rheumatology Subcommittee) Board Membership, and Executive Board Membership of The Global Musculoskeletal Health Task Force.
