Oytun Portakal

She graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine. Between 1993 and 1999, she worked as a resident in the Department of Biochemistry at Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine. In 2001, she was admitted to the doctoral program in the Department of Biochemistry at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. Between 2004 and 2005, with a TÜBİTAK scholarship, she worked on DNA repair by homologous recombination in the Basic Sciences Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. She completed her doctorate in 2006. She currently works at Hacettepe University as a Specialist in Biochemistry.

Her areas of interest include DNA repair, brain-specific proteins, macroproteins, and prenatal diagnosis.
