Murat Kara

Prof. Dr. Murat Kara graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2002 and then completed specialty training at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of the same university. Academic and clinical work continues as a faculty member at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine.

Prof. Dr. Kara stands out for internationally recognized academic work, particularly in musculoskeletal ultrasonography and sarcopenia. Through an approach that integrates clinical practice with advanced imaging techniques, significant contributions have been made to strengthening the role of ultrasound-guided diagnosis and interventional procedures in rehabilitation practice. Active roles have been held in international platforms such as EURO-MUSCULUS, WORLD-MUSCULUS, TURK-MUS and USPRM, and participation has included numerous international courses and congresses as an invited speaker and instructor.

With many articles (>300) published in journals indexed in SCI and SCI-Expanded, the scientific work of Prof. Dr. Kara focuses on the development of sarcopenia diagnostic algorithms, the clinical integration of muscle architecture and muscle thickness measurements, the sonographic assessment of body composition, and ultrasound-guided neuromuscular interventional procedures. With international book authorship and associate editorship roles as well, Prof. Dr. Kara has made pioneering contributions to the standardization of ultrasonography in physical medicine and rehabilitation and its systematic integration into educational processes.

Through academic productivity, international collaborations and an active role in scientific organizations, Prof. Dr. Murat Kara continues to contribute to the development of imaging-based diagnostic and interventional approaches in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
