Meral Üner

Graduated from Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2009. During undergraduate studies, completed a 1-month gynecologic oncology internship in Poland (Poznan) at the “Gınekologkzno-Poloznıczy Szpital Kliniczny” Hospital. Received the specialty degree in 2015 from the Department of Pathology, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. During specialty training, spent 2 months as an observer in gastrointestinal system and liver pathology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), United States. Between 2015 and 2018, worked at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital and Yozgat City Hospital as a medical pathology specialist physician. During this time, obtained the laboratory animal use certification from Hacettepe University and, through active involvement in the establishment of the pathology laboratory at Yozgat City Hospital, the Leica Bond-Max IHC/ISH automated stainer and Leica Aperio LV1 Digital Pathology Scanner user certifications.

Has worked as a faculty member in the Department of Pathology, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, since 2018. Areas of interest are nephropathology, transplant pathology, gastrointestinal system, pancreatobiliary system & liver pathology, and surgical pathology. In 2019-2020, completed a 6-month fellowship at the Renal Pathology Department of Johns Hopkins University in the United States, carrying out studies on kidney needle biopsies, including transplant biopsies, and on electron microscopy.

Member of the Renal Pathology Society (RPS), the European Society of Pathology (ESP), and the Transplantation Immunology and Genetics Society (TİGED).
