Gökhan Tunçbilek

Prof. Dr. Gökhan Tunçbilek was born in Ankara in 1968. He graduated from Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School in 1986. After graduating from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1992, Dr. Tunçbilek completed his residency in plastic surgery in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine.

After his residency, Dr. Tunçbilek continued to work at Hacettepe University, conducting studies on congenital or acquired deformities of the head and face, distraction osteogenesis, cleft lip and palate, hemangiomas and other vascular deformities. Dr. Tunçbilek became an associate professor in 2005 and worked for 3 months as a “clinical fellow” in the Craniofacial Surgery Unit of “Hôpital Necker Enfants Malades” in Paris. In 2006, he completed his doctorate in “Advanced Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery” at Hacettepe University and received the title of “Doctor of Science.” He became a professor in 2011 and was the first Turkish member of the European Society of Craniofacial Surgery and the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery. Dr. Tunçbilek, who has numerous national and international publications, twice received awards at the “Specialist Research Competition” organized by the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. In 2012, Dr. Tunçbilek also obtained his specialty in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Tunçbilek is interested in congenital or acquired deformities of the head and face, distraction osteogenesis, cleft lip and palate, breast reconstruction, and facial and body aesthetic surgery procedures.

Dr. Tunçbilek has been elected President of the European Society of Craniofacial Surgery (ESCFS) for 2024-2026.
