F. İrsel Tezer Filik

She graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine (English-language program) in 1996.

She completed her Neurology specialty training in the Department of Neurology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2003, and the Neuro-Electrophysiology doctoral program at the Hacettepe University Institute of Neurological Sciences between 2004 and 2010.

In 2008, she carried out studies on epilepsy and sleep disorders in the Epilepsy-EEG-Sleep Disorders Department of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy Sleep Laboratory.

She became an associate professor in 2010 and a professor in 2015, and obtained the title of Clinical Neurophysiology Specialist in 2011.

In 2017, she spent two months as an observer at the "C. Munari" Epilepsy Surgery and Sleep Disorders Center of Niguarda Hospital in Milan, on stereoEEG, epilepsy, and sleep disorders.

She is a member of the Turkish Neurological Society, the Clinical Neurophysiology EEG-EMG Society, the Turkish Sleep Medicine Society, the Hacettepe University Sleep Center, the Turkish Epilepsy Society, the Epilepsy Study Group, and the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS). She is also the epilepsy scientific committee representative of the Turkish Neurological Society at the European Academy of Neurology.

She served on the board of the Turkish Epilepsy Society in 2014-2016 and 2016-2018, on the board of the Turkish Sleep Medicine Society between 2019 and 2023, and on the Turkish Neurology Proficiency Training Commission in 2017-2019.

She is interested in epilepsy, EEG, epilepsy surgery, sleep disorders (narcolepsy, parasomnia, and restless legs syndrome are special areas of interest), and polysomnography (PSG).
