Erdinç Çetinkaya

Erdinç Çetinkaya graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2004 and obtained the title of medical doctor. Completed specialty training in the Department of General Surgery, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, in 2012. After working as a general surgery specialist at Ardahan Göle State Hospital for the state service obligation, passed the examinations held in 2015 and was appointed to a chief resident position at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital.

Through the examination administered by the Interuniversity Board, became eligible in 2017 for the title of “Associate Professor” in General Surgery. As of 2019, has taken an active role in the General Surgery Clinic, Endoscopy Unit, Clinical Nutrition Unit, and Medical Research Scientific and Ethical Evaluation Board at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital. In academic life, was appointed in 2023 to a “Professor” position in the Department of General Surgery, University of Health Sciences Gülhane Faculty of Medicine. In 2025, began serving again as a faculty member in the Department of General Surgery at Hacettepe.

Completed the Basic Surgical Research Doctoral Program at the Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences in 2025 with a thesis on mucosal markers and the role of personalized treatment in inflammatory bowel disease, and obtained the title of “PhD.”

In 2023, successfully completed the European Board of Surgery Qualification (EBSQ-Coloproctology) examinations and obtained the European colorectal surgery qualification title “FEBS-Coloproctology“ (Fellow of EBSQ-Coloproctology). In 2014, successfully completed the Turkish Surgical Association Board of Competence examinations, became eligible for the Surgical Competence Certificate, and was recertified in 2024. In 2021, obtained the Turkish Colon and Rectum Surgery Competence Certificate from the Turkish Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery.

Spent time at Cleveland Clinic in 2009 and at New York University in 2018 for training in colorectal surgery and inflammatory bowel disease surgery.

Currently serves on the Turkish Surgical Association Competence Board and the Turkish Surgical Association Audit Board, to which elected in 2022.

Has numerous scientific articles published in international SCI, SCI-E and national indexes, book chapter authorships, reviewer and editor roles in scientific journals, and numerous invited speaker assignments.

Professional areas of interest include anorectal diseases, inflammatory bowel diseases, colorectal cancer surgery, pelvic floor diseases, endoscopy, and minimally invasive surgical interventions such as robotic, laparoscopic, and endoluminal surgery.
