Burçin Halaçlı

Dr. Burçin Halaçlı received medical education at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine between 2002 and 2008 and graduated second in the class. Then completed specialty training in Internal Medicine between 2008 and 2013 in the Department of Internal Medicine, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. During this period, served as the Türkiye Young Internists representative at the European Federation of Internal Medicine (EFIM) on behalf of the Turkish Society of Internal Medicine Specialists (TİHUD). Dr. Halaçlı served as Chief Resident of the Department of Internal Medicine in 2012 and completed the Critical Care subspecialty training in the Division of Internal Medicine Intensive Care at the same institution between 2014 and 2017. With the Turkish Education Foundation Orhan Birman overseas scholarship, received training in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) in 2016-2017 at Imperial College Royal Brompton Cardiovascular Hospital in London/United Kingdom. After completing the compulsory service, Dr. Halaçlı was appointed in September 2019 as Asst. Prof. Dr. and faculty member in the Division of Intensive Care, Department of Internal Medicine, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. In 2013 and 2019, respectively, received the Prof. Dr. Şeref Zileli Successful Resident Physician Award and the Thesis-Derived Publication Award of the Department of Internal Medicine, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. Served as a member of the NEXT Committee of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) between 2016 and 2022. Since 2020, has served as deputy director of the Hacettepe University Sepsis Research and Application Center (HÜSEP) (http://www.husep.hacettepe.edu.tr/). In 2021, began the master's program in Immunology (with thesis) in the Department of Pediatric Basic Sciences, Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences. Research topics are sepsis, sepsis immunology, chronic critical illness, and post-intensive care syndrome. Married with 1 child.
