Dear Hacettepe community,
The torch of independence lit on 19 May 1919, when Atatürk set foot in Samsun, spread across all of Anatolia, and the War of National Liberation fought in the light of this torch was crowned with victory on 30 August 1922.
We remember with gratitude, thanks, mercy and respect all the heroes of our struggle for independence, above all the Commander-in-Chief, the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, after whom this victory, a heroic epic written by a nation together with its army, is named.
Happy 30 August Victory Day to us all…
Prof. Dr. A. Haluk ÖZEN
