Hacettepe University Hospitals

PRESS RELEASE

A statement has become necessary today in order to inform the public accurately about some untrue posts concerning our university hospitals that have appeared in the public domain.

Our university hospitals are a large-scale hospital with 1,229 beds, an average of 5,000 patient visits and 300 operations per day. As in the fight against Covid-19, Hacettepe University Hospitals have taken strong initiative from the first day in these difficult times in the spirit of national unity and solidarity and, with approximately 6,000 healthcare workers, have provided healthcare services to a total of 456 earthquake survivors to date. While the treatment of 85 earthquake survivors in our Adult Hospital, 32 in our Children's Hospital and 3 in our Oncology Hospital is still continuing, our other patients have been discharged after outpatient or inpatient treatment. In addition, 71 physicians working in our Hospitals went to the region on the first day of the earthquake with the necessary medical equipment and supplies to provide healthcare services to earthquake survivors.

Our University's resources and capabilities are sufficient to ensure the sustainability of the healthcare services provided in our Hospitals, and there has been no shortage in the provision of healthcare services after the earthquake. Therefore, the posts that have appeared in public claiming that there is a shortage of supplies and equipment in our university hospitals do not reflect the truth. Apart from their treatment needs, all daily needs of our patients and their companions are fully met by our University units, and psychosocial support is provided. Voluntary donations to the Social Services Unit of our Hospitals relate only to the individual needs of patients and their relatives.

Respectfully announced to the public.
